SHILLONG: The Pradesh Congress Committees of (PCCs) of at least three north-eastern States are not aware of the letter of discord by 23 senior leaders that was despatched to the AICC (All India Congress Committee) president Sonia Gandhi. The letter was reportedly sent before the Congress Working Commitee (CWC) resolved the issue of who would the Congress party two days ago. Sources informed that the Pradesh Congress Committees of Meghalaya, Mizoram and Arunachal Pradesh had no knowledge about such letters till it was flared up in the media.
AICC secretary in-charge of Mizoram, Dr Ampareen Lyngdoh told The Sentinel on Wednesday that there have been no approving voices by the Congressmen on the letter that sprung up. She interpreted that the voices raised by the senior leaders was distorted and termed as a word of dissent. "There are no such echoing words of dissent in Mizoram Congress,"stated the AICC secretary, while making it clear that the party stands together to revitalise the party.
AICC secretary in-charge of Arunachal Pradesh, Zenith Sangma said, "There has been no word from the Congress workers to express words of dissention against the Central leaderdership of the party. Due to the pandemic, though we are slightly out of touch with each other yet we are firm with our dedication to the present Congress leadership," he added.
Along with the two sister States, the Meghalaya Pradesh Congress Commitee (MPCC) has also expressed its support to the present highcommand of the party. "Notwithtanding our differences in the State, we are solid in our stand behind the present Central party leadership," stated a senior functionary of the MPCC. However, the shillong-based AICC secretary in-charge of Nagaland could not be reached.
