WILLIAMNAGAR: Tura MP (Member of Parliament) Agatha K. Sangma, along with the Williamnagar MLA (Member of Legislative Assembly) and Government Chief Whip, Marcuise N Marak reviewed the implementation of the Centrally-sponsored schemes in East Garo Hills during a meeting of the DISHA (District Development Coordination and Monitoring Committee) at Williamnagar Circuit House on Monday.

They reviewed implementation of several Central schemes like the PMAY (G), MGNREGS, JalJeevan Mission, National Health Mission, PMMVY, SSA, ICDS, PoshanAbhiyan, PM-KISAN, PMGSY, among others. Deputy Commissioner SwapnilTembe presided over the meeting.

Presenting an overview of the meeting, DC Tembe informed that necessary steps are being initiated to make the district self-sufficient in terms of fisheries, agriculture, and horticulture. He also dwelt on the issues relating to Warimagre and BalsriGittim settlement on GAD land.

DRDA Project Director L. Ch. Marak highlighted the achievements and targets under various centrally sponsored schemes being implemented by the C&RD Blocks in the district.

Earlier, the MP attended the public hearing at Williamnagar Circuit House presided over by the BDO of Samanda C&RD Block, Albert G Momin where the VECs (Village Employment Councils) highlighted their grievances relating to enhancement of semi-skill wages, construction of low-cost houses with Rs 1.30 lakh, the 'Ekalavya Model Residential School' at Nengkhra, construction of the submersible bridge at Rongsak (at a cost of Rs 1.28 crore) and water connectivity in the villages under the 'JalJeevan Mission'.

Appreciating the initiatives of the Deputy Commissioner in monitoring the implementation of the Centrally-sponsored schemes in the district, the MP also assured to look into the problems and grievances being faced by the VECs, stated a release.
