SHILLONG: Martin Luther Christian University organized a University Research Week from August 13 to 16. The objective of organizing this special programme is to inculcate a spirit and culture of research among students and faculty as well as to recognise the efforts of the students across various departments in completing their research projects.
The weeklong programme included various research related activities like data interpretation, quiz on research, literature hunts, play acts and poster presentations in which the undergraduate and post graduate students participated.
To further encourage them, the students were also made to propose out of the box research ideas and were given awareness on publication avenues.
In all these activities, the students were evaluated and awarded prizes. The best research studies and poster presentations were awarded the “Excellence in Research Award.”
Out of these the students who presented the best two research studies were granted the “Dr. Domes Roy Shullai Memorial Scholarship” to assist them in presenting their research in their selected regional or national conferences, seminars or in publishing their work in peer-reviewed journals.
Speaking at the award ceremony, Dr. Carl Rangad, Vice-Chairman (Operations), NESFAS and Chairman, MLCU Doctoral Committee, urged the students to have an open and ambitious mind and to make good use of all the research facilities and technology they have at their disposal.
Dr. Rangad also joined the three external experts who selected the winners in commending MLCU for the kind of research carried out by its students and faculty which emphasises on sustainable development of the region and its rich culture and traditions.
