Shillong: The Congress is positive that it will wrest the Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council (KHADC) and the Jaintia Hills Autonomous District Council (JHADC) executive council in the upcoming district council elections scheduled to be held on February 27.
Senior Congress leader Ampareen Lyngdoh said, “The lethargic performance of the ruling front will be exposed by the people through their votes. As a party we have also carefully chosen the candidates to contest the elections”.
Boasting about the party confidence and the chance of taking control of the two district councils in the State, Lyngdoh stated, “The advantage for us is the chaos and confusion of the present government in the State.” She referred to the coal issue, the unresolved Punjabi Line fiasco as few examples that the people have seen of the mismanagement of the MDA government.
At present, the executive committees in both the KHADC and the JHADC is being led by the Nationalist Peoples’ Party.
