SHILLONG: A webinar on 'Crime Against Women and Children' initiated by the Home (Police) Department, Meghalaya was held on Thursday for police officials of the State.

The webinar was held in pursuance of the observations made by the 'Assembly Committee on Women Empowerment'. The House panel directed the investigation agencies and other line departments involved in the prosecution of cases against women and children to deliberate at length regarding the statutory legal procedures which will ensure delivery of justice to the victims, stated a release.

The webinar was inaugurated by H. Nongpluh, Additional Director General of Police (CID/SB). The resource persons for the webinar were N. Khan, District & Sessions Judge, East Khasi Hills, Shillong, D. D. Shira, Director, Directorate of Social Welfare, Dr Aman War, Director of Health Services (MI), Dr N. Wanswett, Director of Health Services (MCH & FW), Dr B. Shanpru, gynaecologist, Dr N. Sangma, forensic specialist, Lakador Syiem, Commandant, Sixth MLP Battalion, and Abhilash Bhanwal. D.P. Marak, Deputy Inspector General of Police (CID) extended the valedictory speech.
