West Garo Hills extends containment measures till August 30

TURA: West Garo Hills District Magistrate Ram Singh passed an order on August 21, thereby enforcing the containment measures in the district from 5 am of August 23 till 5 am of August 30 with the same restricted and permitted activities as in the earlier order, stated a press release.

According to the order, the essential commodities shops in the district will now open from Monday to Saturday from 8 am to 5 pm while the non-essential shops, vehicle repairing and services shops are allowed to open on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday from 8 am to 5 pm.

The movement of vehicles will continue to follow the odd-even rule and the local autos and maxi-cabs plying with limited capacity will have to display the vaccination status of the driver. All non-essential movement is discouraged and intra-district public transport is allowed to ply with 50 per cent capacity.

Those violating the movement protocols or furnishing false self-declaration will be liable for penal action as per law, the order said. The Central and State government offices in the district, according to the order, will function from 10 am to 5 pm with 50 per cent ministerial staff.

The order also said that besides complete lockdown on Sunday, the corona curfew in the district will continue to remain from 6 pm to 5 am.
