SHILLONG: With the detection of 18 fresh COVID-19 cases in Meghalaya on Sunday, the State's active cases rose to 605. During the day, there were 12 recoveries — all from East Khasi Hills (BSF: 10; and civilians: 2), taking the total recovered cases to 264.

Director of Health Services (MI), Dr Aman Warr informed that while East Khasi Hills recorded 13 of the 18 fresh cases, Ri-Bhoi registered four and East Jaintia Hills one. Dr. Warr also informed that of the fresh cases, one is a doctor from North Eastern Indira Gandhi Regional Institute of Health and Medical Science (NEIGRIHMS).

Of the new cases in East Khasi Hills, one is a returnee, three are from the armed forces, five are personnel of the Border Security Force (BSF) and four are civilians. The district-wise active cases are as follows: East Khasi Hills: 497 (BSF-213, civilians-227, and armed forces personnel - 57); West Khasi Hills: five; Ri Bhoi: 50; West Jaintia Hills: 14; East Jaintia Hills: 17; West Garo Hills: 16; South West Garo Hills: four; and South Garo Hills: two.
