Shillong: Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad Sangma today said that the youth of the country were the agents of positive change and emphasised the importance of hard work and perseverance for progressive transformation of the nation.
Addressing the gathering at a function organised for young NCC cadets from different parts of the country participating in the NER Trek 2018 at Assam Rifles Directorate at Laitkor Shillong, the Chief Minister said that camps such as this were important as it provides an opportunity to participants coming from diverse backgrounds to interact and share their experiences under one platform.
“You have come from different parts of the country and I am sure that during your stay here you have experienced the natural beauty, the local culture and the people of Meghalaya”, he said.
The Chief Minister expressed his happiness over the outstanding achievements of the cadets from the State who have excelled in various spheres and motivated them to be worthy citizens capable of taking the nation to greater heights. ‘You must have discipline and a purpose to be able to excel and achieve your goals. You will have failures but it is important to learn from experiences and get going with more determination towards your goal’, he added.
Terming the NCC as a premier youth organization dedicated towards national integrity the Chief Minister lauded the efforts of the NCC fraternity in grooming the future citizens of the State.
Others present at the function were Brig. S.B.K. Singh, DDG NCC Dte NER and Brig. P.M. Bali, NCC Group Cdr Shillong.
