AIZAWL: Lalmuansangi Varte was selected from among 31 shortlisted participants of the 'VLCC Femina Miss India-2020 to represent Mizoram in the beauty pageant.

Varte is a 5.6-feet tall and hails from Champai district in the eastern part of Mizoram bordering Myanmar, which is commonly known as the 'Rice Bowl of Mizoram'. She won the second runner-up title in 'Miss Mizoram-2020' and was selected by the 'Miss Mizoram Organisation' to represent the State in the 'Femina Miss India' pageant. She was shorlisted for her beauty, grace, intellect and poise.

After completing her Master's degree in English literature she is currently a trainee teacher besides pursuing her degree in 'Bachelor of Education' (B.Ed) at Mizoram University.

Her life story is a wonderful instance of will power. She has been battling heart disease ever since she was a five-year-old child and also suffered from dyslexia — a learning disability. However, she continued to persevere to achieve her dreams despite her sufferings. With the help of her parents and her teacher, she finally overcame her problem after several years of battle.

The Mizo beauty queen wants to become a teacher. She could be an inspiration to anyone facing problems in life. She wants to build their confidence to be whoever they want to be in life.

Varte got the edge leaving behind her closest contestant — Celina Chakma in the online interview.
