Assam Rifles arrested one with arms from Lailiphai, Mizoram

AIZAWL: Aizawl Battalion of 23 Sector Assam Rifles, under the aegis of Headquarters Inspector General Assam Rifles (East), recovered a 9mm pistol and two single-barrel rifles from Lailiphai, Mizoram on June 19. The operation was launched by Charlie company of Aizawl Battalion and a person was apprehended in this connection. The recovered items and the apprehended person have been handed over to the Champhai Police Station and an FIR has been lodged.

Ongoing smuggling of illegal goods is a major cause of concern for the State of Mizoram. Assam Rifles, rightly christened as the 'Sentinels of Northeast' have been successful in launching such operations against the smuggling activities in Mizoram, stated a released.
