Assam Rifles conducts tree-plantation drive in Mizoram

AIZAWL: The Aizawl Battalion of Headquarter 23 Sector Assam Rifles, under the aegis Headquarters Inspector General Assam Rifles (East), conducted a tree plantation drive at Zokhawsang, New Vaikhawtlang, Mimbung and Kawlbem villages on Friday, stated a press release.

The objective of the drive was to motivate the troops about the importance of trees and also of the secondary advantages like prevention of soil erosion and landslides, especially in a landslide-prone State like Mizoram. Altogether 101 saplings of various varieties were planted in and around the base premises. It was a successful event in which locals and troops participated with great enthusiasm. All the locals appreciated the efforts being made by Assam Rifles in the State. A total of 10 villagers and troops of Assam Rifles attended the drive.
