AIZAWL: Brigadier Digvijay Singh, SM, DIG of 23 Sector Assam Rifles and Brigadier Girish Upadhya, SM, VSM, DIG (designate) under the aegis of Inspector General Assam Rifles (East), interacted with Mizoram's Chief Minister Zoramthanga at the CM's office here on Wednesday.
The Mizoram Chief Minister conveyed his appreciation for the effective management of the Indo-Myanmar border by Assam Rifles and the cordial relationship between Assam Rifles and the State administration .He also acknowledged the commendable work being done by Assam Rifles in managing illegal influx and curbing the drug menace in the State.
Zoramthanga wished both the incoming and outgoing DIGs good luck for their future endeavours, stated a press release.
LECTURE CONDUCTED: Meanwhile, another press release informed that the Lunglei Battalion of 23 Sector Assam Rifles conducted a lecture on 'Adverse Effects of Smoking' under the 'Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan' at Zochachhuah village in the Lawngtlai district of Mizoram on Wednesday.
A total of 18 youth of Zochachhuah village attend the lecture. The aim of the lecture was to spread awareness amongst the local youth of Zochachhuah village regarding the ill effects of smoking.
During the lecture, local residents were educated that smoking starts as a way of having fun, but ends up as an addiction which becomes difficult to give up. Besides, smoking causes cancer and it could lead to death.
