AIZAWL: The Lunglei Battalion of Headquarter 23 Sector Assam Rifles under the aegis of Headquarter Inspector General Assam Rifles (East) distributed solar lights to villagers of Zochachhua on Saturday. Zochachhua village in Lawngtlai district lies in one of the remotest areas of Mizoram. There is no permanent electricity supply to the village and during night hours villagers sustain on solar-powered equipment only. To provide a little ease in their life, the Assam Rifles took the initiative and distributed a total of 60 solar lights to the villagers in the presence of VCP.
During the event, as a goodwill gesture, villagers were also educated regarding the COVID awareness and anti-malaria measures to be undertaken during the monsoon season. The noble gesture on part of the Assam Rifles and their sincere concern was appreciated by the villagers who will go a long way in further consolidating the harmonious relations between the locals and the Assam Rifles, stated a release.
