Assam Rifles recovers arms and ammunition in Mizoram

AIZAWL: The Aizawl Battalion of Assam Rifles recovered arms and ammunition in the Armed Veng South area of Mizoram on Monday in a joint operation with the Aizawl police.

The operation was carried out on the basis of specific information that some weapons are being dumped at Armed Veng South. The party had detained one person who is suspected of keeping unidentified arms and ammunition. The recovered items included one .22 pistol and 30 live rounds of .22 ammunition.

The apprehended person and seized items were handed over to police for further legal proceedings, stated a press release.

Meanwhile, another press release informed that the Serchhip Battalion of Assam Rifles also recovered a cache of warlike stores (WLS) in the Champhai district on Monday.

The operation was carried out by a combined team of Assam Rifles and Customs Preventive Force, Champhai based on specific information.
