Assam Rifles seized foreign-origin cigarettes from Champhai district in Mizoram

AIZWAL: In yet another success in its crusade against smuggling activities, Serchhip Battalion of 23 Sector Assam Rifles, under the aegis of Headquarters Inspector General Assam Rifles (East), seized 75 cases of foreign-origin cigarettes in general area Ruantlang, Champhai district in Mizoram on Tuesday.

The operation was carried out by a joint team of Assam Rifles and Customs department Champhai based on specific information. The approximate cost of the seized foreign-origin cigarettes is Rs. 97,50,000. The recovered items were handed over to Customs Preventive Force Champhai, District Champhai, for further legal proceedings, stated a press release.
