Assam Rifles seizes heroin worth Rs 1.31 crore in Aizawl

 AIZAWL: In yet another success in its crusade against smuggling activities, Serchhip Battalion of 23 Sector Assam Rifles under the aegis of Inspector General Assam Rifles (East), recovered 21 soap cases (263.4 gram) of heroin and apprehended two individuals in General Area Mualkawi (Champhai-Zokhawthar Road) on Monday.

The operation was carried out by a combined team of Assam Rifles and Excise and Narcotics Department, Champhai based on specific information.

The approximate cost of the recovered heroin is Rs 1,31,70,000. The seized consignment and apprehended individuals were handed over to Exicse and Narcotics Dept, Champhai for further legal proceedings.

Ongoing smuggling of illegal drugs is a major cause of concern for the state of Mizoram. Assam Rifles has been successful in launching such operations against the smuggling activities in Mizoram, stated a press release.
