Assam Rifles Spreads Awareness on Dangers of Tobacco

AIZAWL: To achieve the motto of 'Winning Hearts & Minds of local populace' and in a bid to motivate locals, Serchhip Battalion of Assam Rifles under the aegis of Headquarters 23 Sector Assam Rifles/ Headquarters Inspector General Assam Rifles (East) conducted a contactless awareness and poster campaign at Serchhip Town on the occasion of World No Tobacco Day on May 31.

Dangers of Using Tobacco Awareness Campaign

The aim was to spread awareness amongst the local about the dangers of using tobacco amidst of COVID-19 pandemic. The use of tobacco and smoking of cigarette destroys the lungs and lung tissue which reduce the number of air space and blood vessels in the lungs resulting in less oxygen to a critical part of your body which is the main cause of seriousness of COVID patients. The time has now come to commit to quit the use of tobacco products and create a tobacco-free environment in the state of Mizoram.

The campaign on World NO Tobacco Day was organized in a contactless way due to the COVID-19 situation and local were informed about the harmful effect of Tobacco use through Public Addressing System in the local language and were also request to follow the COVID Appropriate Behaviour (CAB).

The locals extended their heartfelt gratitude towards the Assam Rifles for organising such a meaningful campaign to discourage the use of tobacco products through the digital platforms, stated a release.
