Big push to sports infra in Mizoram, gets Khelo India State Centre

Aizawl's Rajiv Gandhi Stadium has been selected as one of the first eight Khelo India State Centres of Excellence (KISCEs) in India under Khelo India scheme, state sports minister Robert Romawia Royte announced.

Taking to Twitter, the minister extended thanks to Union Sports minister Kiren Rijiju and team MYAS and SAI.

As per reports, the stadium will be upgraded with a total budget of Rs 11.52 crore in four years, a PIB release stated.

Earlier, the ministry has identified state-owned sports facilities in Karnataka, Odisha, Kerala, Telengana, Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur, Mizoram and Nagaland.

It is to be mentioned that the union sports ministry is upgrading existing sporting infrastructure in each state and union territory.
