AIZAWL: The Serchhip Battalion of 23 Sector Assam Rifles under the aegis of Inspector General Assam Rifles (East), conducted lecture on 'Anti-Tobacco Day' at Zokhawthar, Zokhawsang, Hnahlan and Kawlbem on May 31.
The interactive lecture was targeted specifically to make everyone aware about the single largest cause of cancer and what people can do to claim their right to health and healthy living and to protect future generations. The locals were informed that tobacco kills over 8 million people every year and destroys the environment, further harming human health through cultivation, production, distribution, consumption and post-consumer waste.
The motivation of locals was evident both in terms of strength and interest. A total of 74 locals, including school children attended the same, stated a press release.
