Major Drug Busts in Mizoram and Meghalaya: Heroin Worth Crores Seized

AIZAWL: In a major operation targeting drug trafficking, authorities in the state of Mizoram have achieved a significant breakthrough. On Tuesday, law enforcement successfully confiscated a substantial quantity of heroin. Two individuals, Kapthaul Thanga and Thangchin Khupa, have been apprehended in connection with this operation.

The seized contraband was ingeniously concealed within 120 soap cases, totaling a staggering 1.455 kilograms of heroin. Furthermore, law enforcement also seized an Alto K10 vehicle bearing the registration number MZ-04-A-8087 in connection with the operation. The estimated street value of this seized heroin is a jaw-dropping Rs 1 crore, underscoring the magnitude of this achievement in the ongoing fight against drug trafficking in the region.

Simultaneously, in a separate security operation conducted in Meghalaya's East Jaintia Hills, authorities have made notable strides in combatting drug trafficking. During this operation, law enforcement seized 20 soap cases filled with approximately 240 grams of heroin from a Tata Sumo vehicle. The total worth of the seized narcotics in this operation is estimated at an astonishing Rs 2 crore. An individual was also apprehended in connection with this heroin seizure, highlighting the continuous efforts to root out drug trafficking in the region.

These two significant drug busts in Mizoram and Meghalaya emphasize the commitment of law enforcement agencies in the northeastern states of India to combat the menace of drug trafficking.
