Major fire averted at Chanmarhi in Mizoram

AIZAWL: The Serchhip Battalion of Assam Rifles under the aegis of HQ 23 Sector Assam Rifles/Inspector General Assam Rifles (East), came to the rescue of people where a major fire incident occured at the Chanmarhi area near Serchhip at around 10:30 pm on March 29. The inferno soon spread to all the houses built with wood and tin sheets. On receipt of information, a Quick Reaction Team (QRT) of the Battalion rushed to the site. After a struggle of hours, the thick inferno was finally brought under control with the help of fire extinguishers and water bowsers.

The fire destroyed a group of three houses. However, no loss of life was reported, stated a release.
