Guwahati: A case has been filed against a doctor who was treating COVID-19 patients at the ZMCH and was later found positive, and two other health staff, on Thursday, July 24.

The complaint was filed for defying lockdown protocols and flouting safety measures by playing 'futsal', an improvised type of football. As per an official report, the FIR was registered by activist Vanramchhuangi alias Ruatfela Nu against the doctor who has been treating in Zoram Medical College (ZMC) and the two health staffers of City Hospital and Grace Nursing Home and research center at the Bawnkawn police station.

In the FIR, Ruatfela informed that part of the media reported that the doctor was playing futsal with the two different individuals that very night in Durtlang Leitan locality. Notably, the administrations of the two hospitals have also been included in the FIR.

It is to be mentioned that the infected doctor is undergoing treatment for COVID-19 at ZMC, health department officials stated. The activist also alleged that the administration of the two hospitals allowed their staff to organize sports events despite curfew and defied the government order.

Meanwhile, Grace Nursing Home and Research Centre managing director Johny Zahmingthat rebuffed that the sports event was organized by the administration.
