Mizoram Governor urged to resolve problems of state’s students

AIZAWL/IMPHAL: Mizoram Students’ Union (MSU) on Monday urged the State Governor, Hari Babu Kambhampati, to resolve the issues and problems of state’s students studying and seeking admission in Imphal-based Central Agriculture University (CAU).

A statement, issued by the Directorate of Information and Public Relations (DIPR), said that the MSU leaders told the Governor that “Imphal (Manipur) may not be safe for these (Mizoram) students”.

The statement said that a MSU delegation led by its president Samuela Zothanpuia met the Governor at Raj Bhavan and conveyed to him the problems faced by Mizoram students of Central Agriculture University in Imphal. The MSU leaders requested the Governor to solve the difficulties faced by the students.

Of the 40 Mizoram students, 12 are final year students while the other 28 are required to submit their admission documents (hard copies) to CAU in Imphal before August 2. At the same time, these 28 students would have to face the examination shortly. Taking the current Manipur situation into consideration, the MSU leaders told the Governor that Imphal may not be safe for these students. In this regard, they requested the Governor to intervene in this matter and make alternative arrangements with the authorities of CAU, Imphal, the DIPR statement said. (IANS)
