Mizoram Govt imposes 8-days complete shutdown in Aizwal amid rising COVID cases

Aizwal: In view of the increasing number of COVID-19 cases in the state, the Government of Mizoram has imposed an eight-day lockdown in the Aizwal Municipal Corporation area.

The complete shutdown in Aizwal came into effect from 4.30 AM on Tuesday and will continue till 4.30 AM, November 3.

The decision was made in an emergency meeting attended by state's Health Minister R.Lalthangliana and Home Minister Pu Lalchamliana.

The State Information and Public Relations department wrote on Twitter, "An emergency meeting under the chairmanship of Health Minister and Home Minister held today at MINECO decided to impose lockdown within the AMC area, after obtaining due consent from the Chief Minister. The lockdown will begin at 4:30 am tomorrow till 4:30 am on 3rd Nov 2020."

The total number of cases in Mizoram stands at 2,527, out of which 2,212 people have recovered from the virus. There are a total of 315 active cases in the state, Mizoram has not reported any fatalities yet.
