AIZAWL: On Sunday night, a significant shipment of illegal heroin was taken from a truck near Vairengte town in Mizoram's Kolasib district. According to reports, during a regular check, the police stopped a truck carrying empty cooking gas cylinders and found heroin inside. On the international market, the seized heroin is reportedly worth Rs. 3.4 crore.

The Mizoram police reported that a team of Vairengte PS officers in the Kolasib Dist of Mizoram stopped a vehicle travelling from Ngopa, Champhai to Silchar carrying empty cooking gas cylinders, and found 625 grammes (50 soap boxes) of heroin, which was worth Rs 3.4 crore on the black market.

Police were further advised that the confiscated contraband was concealed inside an empty gas cylinder with the bottom ripped open. The truck's driver was detained following the seizure, and a case under the NDPS Act was filed at the Vairengte police station for additional legal proceedings.

Five people were apprehended in connection with the recent seizure of a large shipment of heroin valued at Rs 2 crore by the Nagaland Police's Narcotics division. Based on specific intelligence about a potential drug smuggling attempt, a police squad conducted an anti-drug operation in Teipuki hamlet in the Peren district of Nagaland.

According to officials, the total amount of heroin seized weighed in at about 1.40 kg. A senior police officer reported that two people were detained after a car in Assam's Karbi Anglong district was found to be carrying heroin worth roughly 18 crores. The officers said that the arrests and seizure were carried out by a combined team of Assam Police and CRPF.

A checkpoint was set up at Dilai Tiniali based on specific knowledge of a drug smuggling attempt, according to Karbi Anglong Superintendent of Police Sanjib Kumar Saikia. Around 10.30 am, a pick-up van was halted for inspection, and during that time, 286 soap cases and 3.5 kg of heroin were found inside. According to him, the worth of the illegal goods is roughly 18 crore rupees.
