AIZAWL: A conclave of NGOs (Non Government Organizations) was organized by the Assam Rifles here on Monday. The interactive meet was held with the prime objective to foster greater synergy, enhanced cooperation and unhindered coordination between various the NGOs in the State and the Assam Rifles for the larger benefit of the society.

A total of 17 office bearers of the prominent NGOs of the State such as the Central Young Mizo Association (CYMA), Mizo Zirlai Pawl (MZP), Mizoram Football Association (MFA) and Mizoram Students Union (MSU) attended the conclave.

They shared their views and analyses on various points including avenues for co-operation and coordination between the armed forces and the public. They also lauded the recent trend of Mizo boys joining the armed and security forces.

Major General Ranjit Singh IG (Inspector General) of the Assam Rifles (East) and Brigadier Digvijay Singh DIG, 23 Assam Rifles Sector attended the conclave with representatives of the NGOs from Mizoram.

Major general Ranjit Singh addressed the issues raised by the NGO representatives; and assured them of full support from the Assam Rifles for the future of the people of Mizoram. The event culminated with the joint affirmation of the NGOs and the Assam Rifles with respect to increased degree of assistance to each other in ensuring prosperity and growth of people of Mizoram, stated a release.
