Guwahati: Mizoram has confirmed 3 more COVID-19 cases on Wednesday, July 8. With these latest detections, the number of active cases in the state stood at 58; 143 patients in the state have been discharged after recovering from the deadly disease.
All the 3 cases have been detected at the Lunglei TrueNat Lab today, officials confirmed. Among Mizoram districts, Aizawl has the highest number of active cases and is closely followed by Siaha . Lunglei district has recorded the highest number of discharges.
The rise in the COVID-19 cases in Mizoram has been witnessed amid the return of citizens who were stranded amid the Centre-imposed curbs in other parts of the country. Meanwhile, beginning a phase of partial lockdown in the state from July 1 to July 31, the Mizoram Government said that the relaxation in guidelines was "inevitable" due to the economic hardships faced by a significant portion of the population.
In an order issued on Tuesday night, the Mizoram Government said that the prolonged suspension of activities has directly impacted the livelihoods of the people, and especially the vulnerable sections of society.
