AIZAWL: A 25-year-old woman was arrested by Mizoram police for her alleged involvement in narcotics smuggling at Lengpui airport, the official said on Saturday.

As per reports, the woman who is a resident of Aizawl's Bawngkawn is listed under the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence's (DRI) most wanted category.

As per the information, officials informed that a team of police arrested the woman when she arrived at the airport from Kolkata on Friday.

When her house was searched, about 3900 KGs of poppy seeds, foreign cigarettes (Effe light consisting of 4,10,000 sticks) and cosmetics worth Rs. 1.5 crore were found.

The arrested lady was later taken over to DRI, Aizawl for further investigations.

A tweet by the Mizoram police mentions, Sabbathhlui, aged 25 was caught by the Lengpui airport securities from the airport when she landed from Kolkata by the Indigo flight. It was mentioned she had been a wanted person in the wanted list of DRI and a case was pending against her.
