AIZAWL: In a major successful operation against anti-national activities, the Aizawl Battalion of 23 Sector Assam Rifles under the aegis of Inspector General Assam Rifles (East), apprehended the president of the National Liberation Front of Tripura (NLFT) Jacob Hrangkhawl (55), who hails from Tripura, from the Vaivakawn area of Aizawl on Wednesday.

According to a press release, the operation was jointly carried out by the Aizawl Battalion and the Aizawl police based on specific intelligence. House searches were done and Jacob Hrangkhawl was found and captured by the troops.

AWARENESS DRIVE: Meanwhile, the Lunglei Battalion of 23 Sector Assam Rifles under the aegis of Inspector General Assam Rifles (East), conducted a lecture on 'Awareness on National Flag' at Laki village on Wednesday.

Stating that a total of 20 local residents attended the lecture, another press release added that the aim of the lecture was to spread awareness amongst the local people about the National Flag that represents the ideas, values and virtues of the citizens and the nation with which it moves forward. It also represents hopes and aspirations of the people. The National Flag code gives idea on how to handle national flags so that patriotic sentiments of citizens are not hurt. The National Flag of India is a symbol of honour, patriotism and freedom. The residents of Laki village were very happy and expressed their gratitude for the initiative taken by Assam Rifles.
