Plantation drive conducted by Assam Rifles in Aizawl

AIZAWL: Lunglei Battalion of 23 Sector Assam Rifles under the aegis of Inspector General Assam Rifles (East), conducted "Tree Plantation Drive" at Company Operating Base, Parva on 20 October 2022. 36 Soldiers of Assam Rifles and 03 locals of Parva village participated in the event.

The drive aimed to spread awareness amongst locals about the importance of Tree Plantation and how it has a direct impact on our lives. India is facing many environmental issues such as air pollution, water pollution and the degradation of forests. All this has resulted in increasing greenhouse gas concentrations, land and ocean temperatures, sea level rise, melting ice and extreme weather. Climate change has also impacted the socio-economic development of the country. Eco-system restoration is the need of the hour and can only happen through active planting.
