Rebel Camp Attacked By Myanmar Junta Near Mizoram Border

AIZAWL: On January 10, 2023, fighter jets from the Myanmar Army assaulted Camp Victoria in Chin State, Burma, and detonated a bomb there as well. It was supported by evidence from the area.

A minimum of four explosive devices were dropped by Burmese military fighter jets on Camp Victoria, the headquarters of the Chin National Front/Chin National Army in Chin State, Myanmar, close to the border with Mizoram State, India, on January 10, 2023, at around 5:15 p.m. local Myanmar time, according to the sources.

Five men of the Chin National Army (CNA) were killed in the attack as a result of the surprise onslaught. Three Yak-130 and two MIG-29 fighter jets were among the five that were located. The bombings on Indian soil or the jets flying into Indian airspace have not yet been acknowledged by the Mizoram government.

A peasant from Farkawn Village in Mizoram State, India, which borders Chin State, Myanmar, was travelling in a truck with the MZ01J6847 registration number when at least one bomb struck Indian soil and destroyed it. The truck's front mirror was smashed by the bomb that fell about 50 meters from the vehicle, but the owner managed to flee and hide from the assailants.

The Sagaing District People's Defence Force said that numerous resistance organisations guarding the village withdrew as a result of a lack of weapons. One of the ten patron saint monks of Sitagu, Ashin Gadarthara, perished in the raid at the Shwegu monastery in the hamlet.

The Sitagu Buddhist Academy was constructed by Sitagu Sayadaw Ashin Nyanissara, who was a favorite monk of Min Aung Hlaing, the leader of the state. In March of last year, he described the junta leader as a "royal" and a smart and kind head of state. Sitagu Sayadaw has remained silent over the atrocities committed by the regime.
