SILCHAR: Tension brewed again in the Assam-Mizoram border as a driver of an oil tanker was allegedly murdered by Mizo miscreants while he was returning from the neighbouring State.

The helper of the driver was reportedly arrested by the Mizoram police. Both the driver Prabin Kumar Singh and his helper Nripen Singh are residents of Ramprasadpur Laltugram in Dholai, bordering Mizoram.

The body of Prabin Kumar Singh was handed over to his family on Tuesday and that sparked off the tension. Residents of Ramprasadpur blocked the road demanding immediate action against Mizo miscreants. They also demanded release of Nripen Singh, who was reportedly arrested by the Mizo police on the charge of murdering Prabin Kumar.

Local sources informed that Prabin and Nripen were attacked at a roadside restaurant on their way back to Assam. Miscreants allegedly stabbed Prabin.

Ramandeep Kaur, SP, Cachar had assured the local people that post-mortem of Prabin's body would be done once again.
