AIZWAL: To achieve the motto of 'Winning Hearts & Minds of local populace' and in a bid to motivate the locals, Serchhip Battalion of Assam Rifles under the aegis of Headquarters 23 Sector Assam Rifles/ Headquarters Inspector General Assam Rifles (East) organized an awareness lecture on — Save Earth Save Tree at Tlangsam village, Mizoram to observe World Earth Day on April 22.
The aim was to raise awareness and motivate the locals to contribute significantly towards nature preservation and the role of the earth which sustains and nurtures all living beings. As part of awareness, the interactive lecture highlighted the significance of World Earth Day. Pollution and deforestation are some of the problem discussed since they pose a major threat to nature. Reforestation and protection of the environment keep the atmosphere free from pollution. During the event, all COVID-19 safety measures were followed to prevent the spread of the virus among people.
A total of 15 civilians participated in the event. The series of activities by the unit received an overwhelming response from the local populace. The locals extended their heartfelt gratitude towards the Assam Rifles for organizing such a meaningful campaign for local. They also expressed their eagerness to work together with the Security Forces for the betterment and upliftment of Mizoram, stated a release.
