16 more coronavirus positive cases detected in Nagaland; total 371

Guwahati: Nagaland on Friday has registered 16 more coronavirus positive cases, taking the tally to 371. 160 patients have so far recovered from the virus in the Northeast Indian state.

"16 new cases of COVID-19 +ve have been reported out of 539 samples tested. 15 patients are from Kohima quarantine centre and 1 is from from Peren quarantine centre", Nagaland health minister S Pangnyu Phom tweeted.

It needs mention here that among Indian states, Nagaland was the last one to report cases of the contagion. The state eventually reported its first cases of the deadly contagion after 3 people - who had returned from Chennai tested positive on Monday, May 25. It needs mention here that earlier, a businessman from the state's commercial hub of Dimapur had tested positive for the virus, but he was added to the tally of Assam as he was tested and received treatment at the Gauhati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH).

Meanwhile, India registered its biggest single-day increase in Covid-19 cases, recording 17,296 coronavirus infections in the last 24 hours, to push the overall tally to 4,90,401 lakh, as the number of fatalities touched 15,301, health ministry data released in the morning showed.
