Drugs, liquor and cash worth Rs 13.42 lakh ahead of by-elections in Nagaland

Kohima: Drugs, liquor and cash worth over Rs 13 lakhs were seized from two bypoll constituencies in Nagaland. By-elections for these two constituencies will be held on November 3. The two Assembly Constituencies are Southern Angami-I under Kohima district and Pungro-Kiphire in Kiphire district.

The Additional Chief Electoral Officer, N Moa Aier said that the seizures were made by the Static Surveillance Team (SST), Flying Squad Team (FST), Excise and other agencies.

Cash worth Rs 6 lakh was seized on Saturday from one of the party workers of BJP candidate in Kiphire constituency. Liquor seized is valued at Rs 6.64 lakh and drugs, especially cough syrup worth Rs 78,000 was seized. The total value of the seizures is Rs 13.42 lakh.

Polling for both of these constituencies is scheduled for November 3 from 7 AM to 4 PM. The counting of votes is scheduled on November 10.
