KOHIMA: Flagging off the full-fledged election campaign in the state of Nagaland for the upcoming assembly elections, the Sankalp Patra or the election manifesto for the Bharatiya Janata Party was launched today in the capital city by the National President Jagat Prakash Nadda. He also took part in an event to address the members of the Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party and Bharatiya Janata Party on Tuesday.

Addressing the gathering the BJP leader mentioned that the Prime Minister is keen on an early solution for the political issues of the state which is now in its final stages. He also said that the Union Home Minister is working tirelessly towards achieving the same with the chief minister as well as the deputy chief minister of Nagaland as witnesses for the same.

"A lot of efforts have been made to resolve the Naga issue. Armed Forces (Special Power) Act has been withdrawn from many police stations in Nagaland," the Bharatiya Janata Party president said.

The Eastern Nagaland People’s Organisation was given the assurance towards the solution of their demand of a separate “Frontier Nagaland”, after which they had taken back their call for a total boycott of the Assembly polls in the Mon, Tuensang, Kiphire, Longleng, Noklak and Shamator districts of the state. The BJP leader mentioned that the commitment will be followed to the letter by Amit Shah.

Speaking on the occasion, JP Nadda also mentioned that the state has seen a 74% reduction in violent incidents under the previous coalition government. Citing the example of the Indian President, he said that a woman belonging to the tribal community became the head of the country, he said that BJP stands for all-round development of all tribal communities of the country.

The event was attended by multiple political leaders including the previous chief minister Neiphiu Rio and deputy chief minister Yanthungo Patton.
