Naga Leader Dr SC Jamir Seeks a Systematic Overhauling of Nagaland

Veteran Naga leader and politician and the former Odhisa Governor, Dr SC Jamir said that Nagaland is in a terrible crisis and this is the most serious issue since its formation. The leader also stressed the needs for a systematic overhauling.

Dr Jamir said, “Insurgency-induced conflicts have over time been compounded by a combination of several disturbing factors. These factors-political, economic and social, often driven by narrow competing interests, coupled with naked corruption and massive youth unemployment have led to an incendiary situation in the State.”

He also said that this system overhauling in the state will be possible only when it begins from the roots. For this, as a primary activity, the commercialization and auctioning of precious votes during elections will have to be stopped completely.

Also, the Churches in Nagaland must play the role of a forerunner in this respect and same is expected from the youth of the state as well who must come out together and raise their voice. As with other remedial measures, the Naga leader believed that economic development will be possible only when there will be peace and security. As long as there will be violence and frustration among the people, development is never possible.

Moreover, the entire administrative and governing system of the state will have to be brought back into the track. A strict and properly followed legislative system along with a stronger police force is necessary for keeping the law and order situation under control. The lawbreakers should be provided with strict and exemplary punishments which will set an example of the harsh outcome of lawbreaking.

But along with being strict in maintaining the legal system, Jamir also suggests the government keep a good and strong connection with the common masses. The citizens must know how the government is working for their rights and benefits.
