Nagaland: AYUSH Hospital at Tuensang to be Inaugurated Next Month

Guwahati : Union Minister of State for Ayurveda, Yoga & Naturopathy, Unani Siddha and Homoeopathy (AYUSH) Shripad Yesso Naik will inaugrate the AYUSH hospital at Tuensang in Nagaland next month.

A press release issued by PRO Nagaland House in New Delhi, stated that the Union Minister has accepted the request made by the Nagaland's Health & Family Welfare (H&FW) Minister S Pangnyu Phom , when the later had called on him at his official residence in New Delhi on Sunday.

Besides submitting a project on medicinal plants fields and herbal gardens in the State. S Pangnyu Phom briefed Naik on implementation of central scheme under AYUSH during the meeting.

Naik also assured the H&FW minister of taking up the project proposal submitted by him and also asked the State Government to fix the date for inauguration of the AYUSH hospital in December.

It may be mentioned that in June last, Pangnyu had requested the Centre for AYUSH hospitals in all the districts of Nagaland, to setup medicinal plants and herbal garden, and a separate directorate for AYUSH in the State at the earliest.

Pangnyu had also apprised Naik of the various activities and AYUSH schemes being implemented in Nagaland.

The Union Minister had assured S Pangnyu Phom that all the districts in Nagaland would be given AYUSH hospital in a phased manner. With regard to medicinal plants fields and herbal garden including AYUSH directorate Naik assured to take up the proposal.

It may be mentioned that keeping in trend with the union government's effort to provide better health care facilities to the public, Foundation stone of another 50 beded Integrated Ayush hospital was laid in Sohra in Meghalaya by the state Health and Family Welfare Minister, AL Hek on Saturday

Department of AYUSH, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India has launched National AYUSH Mission (NAM) during 12th Plan for im­plementing through States/UTs. The basic objective of NAM is to promote AYUSH medical systems through cost effective AYUSH services, strengthening of educational systems, facilitate the enforcement of quality control of Ayurveda, Siddha and Unani & Homoeopathy (ASU &H) drugs and sustainable availability of ASU & H raw-materials. It envisage flexibility of implementation of the programmes which will lead to substantial participation of the State Governments/UT. The NAM contemplates establishment of a National Mission as well as corresponding Missions in the State level. NAM is expected to improve significantly the Department’s outreach in terms of planning, supervision and monitoring of the schemes.
