KOHIMA: Good news has started coming in for the Bharatiya Janata Party even before the voting has actually started. One of the candidates of the national party won the competition due to the lack of competition.

Kazheto Kinimi, the Bharatiya Janata Party candidate for the Akuluto Assembly Constituency has seen an uncontested win for his seat in the Nagaland legislative assembly. He expressed his happiness on being elected again for the seat. He mentioned "beyond humbled and honoured to represent the people of Akuluto 31 A/C for a second term, as unopposed".

"I praise Almighty God for this privilege and extend my gratitude to my supporters, well-wishers, the karyakartas of Akuluto BJP mandal and Nagaland state BJP," mentioned Kazheto Kinimi over Twitter.

The chief minister of Assam and convenor of the North East Democratic Alliance also took to Twitter to congratulate the member of his party, especially for winning uncontested in this election. "Shri. Kazheto Kinimi, @BJP4India MLA candidate of 31A/c Akuluto declared uncontested. Congratulations," he mentioned.

The deputy chief minister during the previous government, as well as senior Bharatiya Janata Party leader Y Patton, also took to congratulate Kazheto Kinimi. He also wished him the best for the upcoming term in office to meet the expectations of the public.

Nagaland goes to the elections towards the end of this month. Tuesday was the last date for filing nominations in the northeastern state while the documents were verified on Wednesday. Friday was the last day for the withdrawal of nominations by any candidate of the assembly elections. The counting of the votes will be conducted on March 2.

Huge amounts of contraband materials have been captured across the state since the Model Code of Conduct came into effect. The value of this lot of contraband material has been put at more than Rs 51 Cr.
