Nagaland Bypoll update: Independent candidates Zashumo and Sangtam leads

Kohima: Independent candidate Seyievilie Peter Zashumo, is leading from his nearest rival Medo Yhokha of the Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party (NDPP) by 922 votes in the Southern Angami I seat.

According to reports coming in from Kohima, T Yangsea Sangtam, another independent candidate from Pungro Kiphire constituency is also leading over his close rival, BJP nominee Lirimong Sangtam by 1,161 votes.

Southern Angami I is one of the two seats in the state of Nagaland where by-election 2020 was held.

The by-elections were held in Southern Angami I and Pungro-Kiphire seats on 3rd November after the demise of sitting legislators Vikho-o Yhosho and T Torechu respectively.
