KOHIMA: The Northeast Indian state of Nagaland celebrates its statehood day on December 1 as the region received the category of a state on the same date in 1963. Several key political leaders of the nation wished the citizens of the state on this occasion.
On the occasion of the state's foundation day, several leaders including President Droupadi Murmu, Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar, Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge, and Union Home Minister Amit Shah greeted the people of Nagaland on Friday.
"Warm greetings to the residents of Nagaland on statehood day!" the President wrote in a post on social media platform X. “Blessed with abundant natural resources and a calm atmosphere, Nagaland is a land of lively people and a rich cultural heritage. I offer up prayers for Nagaland's people to prosper and be happy,” she added.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi mentioned, “Happy Statehood Day to the people of Nagaland. The state’s fascinating history, colorful festivals and warm-hearted people are greatly admired. May this day reinforce Nagaland’s journey towards growth and success.”
On the occasion of their Statehood Day, the Vice President greeted the people of the state, expressing his warmest wishes to them. “Nagaland is a beautiful example of our country's diversity, a harmonious fusion of tradition and modernity. I hope Nagaland's cultural tapestry will keep telling tales of development, resilience, and harmony,” he said.
Additionally, Home Minister Amit Shah posted on X, writing, "Happy statehood day to our brothers and sisters in Nagaland. We have a rich cultural history thanks in large part to the indomitable spirit of the Nagaland people. I hope the state will experience prosperity in the future."
Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge shared a post that read, "Happy Foundation Day to all the people of Nagaland!" An amazing microcosm of India, Nagaland is renowned for its unspoiled natural beauty, brave people, and varied culture and festivals."
"May the various tribes and communities persist in coexisting and flourishing in harmony and peace," the Rajya Sabha Leader of Opposition said.
