KOHIMA: In a recent address at the investiture ceremony of Assam Rifles personnel in Kohima, Nagaland Governor La Ganesan praised the paramilitary force for its enduring commitment to maintaining peace, stability, and prosperity, not only in Nagaland but throughout India. Ganesan highlighted the rich history of the Assam Rifles as the country's oldest paramilitary force and the crucial role it plays in defending India's frontiers, particularly in the challenging terrains of the Northeast region.

The Governor acknowledged the commendable fortitude displayed by the Assam Rifles in safeguarding India's borders, especially in the complex Northeastern region. He emphasized that their efforts have significantly contributed to the peace and prosperity of the area, achieved through close coordination with various organizations and departments.

La Ganesan commended the Assam Rifles for their proactive and people-friendly approach, noting that they have earned the reputation of being the 'Friends of the Hill People' through their consistent dedication over the years. To recognize their outstanding service and devotion to duty, the Governor presented meritorious Assam Rifles personnel with gold and silver medals and appreciation certificates to their units.

He distributed 30 individual awards and four unit appreciation certificates, emphasizing that these accolades not only honor the recipients but also underscore their unwavering commitment to the nation.
