Nagaland: Man Arrested For Issuing Fake COVID-19 Test Reports In Dimapur

DIMAPUR: A man from Dimapur in Nagaland has been arrested for allegedly issuing false COVID-19 test reports without conducting proper covid tests physically.

The accused has been identified as Mohammad Samsung, 39 years old who works for IMA Travels that runs from Dimapur to Imphal.

According to reports, the accused man issued false covid test reports to the passengers in his bus moving towards the state of Manipur from the Blue Hill Bus station area.

It is reported that on 2 January the man asked the passengers to pay Rupees 500 per person on return of which he would provide them fake covid test reports within just an hour.

As per the press release by Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime), Dimapur and Public Relations Officers, the team of police initiated a probe on the basis of the specific information received by them.

The policed team presented themselves as passengers who need COVID-19 test reports that are negative and the accused person Samsung assured that he will arrange the negative covid test reports on being paid an amount.

Accordingly, he got caught and was arrested by the police. Later a case was filed against him under Disaster Management Act 2005.

During interrogation, the whole process of his fraud activity has been revealed. It came to light that Samsung used to collect Adhar Card from people along with money to arrange the fake COVID negative reports for them.

To make the test reports he used to visit the Lohorijan area in Assam's Karbi Anglong. There he paid commission to the staff of testing centres that are stationed at the bordering Dimapur area. In these ways, he was able to make fake test documents without actually conducting the test.

Further investigation about the case is at present going on by the police officials and every individual related to the case are thoroughly examined.
