NAGALAND: For the first time in history, a girl group from Northeastern India is poised to make an impact at the National Cadet Corps (NCC) Republic Day Camp. 25 of the 45 female participants between ages 13-15 are proudly representing Nagaland's rich cultural heritage. Hosted for one month at Delhi Cantt, this exclusive camp comprises over 2,274 cadets nationwide and includes impressive numbers such as a notable ratio of approximately twelve thousand seven hundred by nine-hundred students specially fifty-five percent girls bagged merit certificates post-camp evaluation analysis alongside Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh with participating contingents comprisingof 172 representatives whilst North East regions added up to around 177 members strong emphasizing gender-neutral opportunities abound benefiting all deserving candidates without prejudices or stereotypes held back regarding anyone who can demonstrate commitment towards actively pursuing their goals.

During a press conference, Lt Gen Gurbirpal Singh, Director General of NCC highlighted the objectives of the camp which include promoting cultural exchange programs as well as reinforcing cadet values. The event will also provide exposure to India's rich traditions while facilitating national integration. It is noteworthy that 25 friendly nations will participate in this Youth Exchange Programme (YEP). Dignitaries including Vice President, Raksha Mantri and Rajya Mantri , Chief of Defence Staff along with all three Service Chiefs are expected to attend the camp.

The major accomplishments of the NCC in 2023 were emphasized by Lt Gen Gurbirpal Singh. These included activities such as hosting 39 Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat camps, engaging in lively village area camps and DRDO programs, along with conducting an Aerospace camp. Additionally marking its presence was participation in events like Mega Cyclothon and run for Nari Vandhan; impressive shows put on by sports teams; victorious mountaineering expeditions ;and active involvement at G20 gatherings .

Lt Gen Gurbirpal Singh highlighted the evolving training philosophy, stressing on personality development, leadership qualities, and soft skills. The NCC strives to prepare cadets for their future by providing them with essential abilities that transform them into conscientious citizens who prioritize their nation's interest above all else. Including the Northeast girl band signifies breaking norms and showing off diversity within the NCC community as a step forward in this direction.
