NAGALAND: The Rengma tribe marked an exuberant display of athleticism and community pride with the introduction of their inaugural edition for the Mini Olympics 2024 held at RSA ground in Tseminyu, Nagaland. The event was honored by Abu Metha- adviser to the chief minister and chairman of IDAN who appreciated Renga's diverse contributions towards bettering society during his attendance at its inauguration ceremony.

Metha appreciated how the state government promptly responded to the Rengma community's plea for their own district, highlighting how they made Tseminyu sub-division a separate district from Kohima. He also emphasized that the Rengma people have accomplished remarkable feats in sporting events as evidenced by medals won both nationally and internationally, reflecting their unwavering commitment. Metha appealed to the younger generation, encouraging them to view sports as a viable career option while stressing the importance of dedication and perseverance. He emphasized that true success in athletics can only be achieved through genuine hard work, dismissing any notion of seeking shortcuts or favorable treatment via VIP recommendations or surreptitious arrangements. Metha motivated those aspiring towards sporting greatness to push themselves past perceived barriers by investing their time and energy into rigorous training programs aimed at achieving mastery in their respective fields.

Metha emphasized the government's dedication to endorsing athletes and prioritizing the advancement of sportspersons over constructing athletic facilities. At the inauguration ceremony, she recognized exceptional sportspeople such as Kitenlo K Thono (taekwondo), Jwensinle Kesen (sepaktakraw), Gwahilo Kent (taekwondo) and Tegsonye Lorin (taekwondo) for their remarkable accomplishments in domestic and global competitions.

Participation in the Mini Olympics has been drawn from seven regions including Kasha Daho, Kandi Sports Association, Tsogin Range Sports Association, Tseminyu Tsipwen Kecho Logwa, Phenshunyu Lowjvu Sports Association, Tesophenyu Group Sports Association and Kithagha Sports Association. Akhu Kath led the program as chairman while Pastor Sentsing Tep from Terogvunyu Baptist Church commenced with a prayer. GK Rengma, President of RSA warmly welcomed everyone and the convenor of finance committee presented his vote of thanks. The occasion included an energetic Zumba dance display by CSS TTBC along with Singinye Kemp's exclusive presentation, which was brilliantly hosted by Ketimo Tep and Kesogi Khing.

The upcoming Mini Olympics is anticipated to be an unforgettable moment in Nagaland's sporting history, as the Rengma tribe comes together with a shared spirit of sportsmanship to showcase their talent, dedication and communal pride on one platform.
