KOHIMA: Addressing an election rally in the election-bound Nagaland, the Prime Minister mentioned that the Bharatiya Janata Party-led National Democratic Alliance’s top priority is to ensure the development of the state.
Narendra Modi took part in the first election rally in the state of Nagaland in the year 2023 on Friday. The event was organised at the Agri Expo Centre Ground in the city of Dimapur in the first half of the day.
During his speech, he mentioned that a huge number of members of several banned outfits have surrendered during the five years of the Nationalist Democratic People’s Party - Bharatiya Janata Party coalition government in the state and called it an important step in the direction of long-lasting peace in the Northeastern state.
"The AFSPA (Armed Forces (Special Powers) Act) has already been withdrawn from many parts of Nagaland. The government has been taking steps so that AFSPA is not required in future in the state," said Narendra Modi in his speech.
He also highlighted the three Ps of the Bharatiya Janta Party’s plans for the state of Nagaland. The three Ps are Peace, Progress and Prosperity, which are the top priorities of the Bharatiya Janata Party.
During his speech, the prime minister also mentioned about the massive reduction in the number of violent incidents in the state in the past few years citing records of upto 75%. He called it a very important step towards the speedy development of the state. He also mentioned that once the Nationalist Democratic People’s Party - Bharatiya Janata Party coalition comes to power for the next term, priority will be given towards the solution of problems with the states that Nagaland shares a boundary with, and that massive infrastructure developments will be undertaken towards the welfare of the citizens of the northeastern state.
