Two-Day Naga Solidarity Walk Begins From Today

The walk with the theme "One People, One Destiny" started its journey at Kohima in Nagaland on Thursday and will end at Senapati in Manipur on Friday.

Kohima: Hundreds of Nagas from different areas -- Assam, Arunachal, Manipur, and Nagaland on Thursday joined the Global Naga Forum (GNF) has organized the two-day solidarity walk.

The walk with the theme "One People, One Destiny" started its journey at Kohima in Nagaland on Thursday and will end at Senapati in Manipur on Friday after covering a distance of 81 km.

However, the participants will halt at night at mid-way in the Maram Naga area in Manipur.

''The walk is a common journey to unite the Nagas as one to defend the Naga history and land with the right spirit,'' said GNF Adviser, Dr. Visier Sanyu.

''Our ancestors fought with guns to defend their land. But the age of violence is over. Now, the Nagas will fight with the weapon of love,'' he added.

GNF officials said the walk is totally peaceful and urged the participants not to indulge in any form of untoward incidents and also not to provoke any security personnel.

As per a report by PTI, people from different villages near NH-29 are extending refreshments to the participants taking part in the walk.
