Guwahati: 11 more Covid-19 patients in Nagaland have recovered from the dreaded virus in Nagaland today, taking the number recoverees spiking upwards to 103. The state has so far reported 179 Covid-19 positive cases.
"11 more patients have tested negative of COVID-19 in their second test. 5 from DH, Dimapur, 4 from AR Hospital, Dimapur and 2 from Kohima. All patients are shifted to COVID-19 care centre for observation", Nagaland Health Minister S Pangnyu Phom informed in a tweet.
Amid the return of stranded citizens, Nagaland has registered two more Covid-19 positive cases earlier today, taking the tally of infected persons up to 172. To date, 92 persons in the state have recovered from the respiratory illness, and 87 cases are still active. "2 new cases of COVID-19 +ve have been reported out of 316 samples tested. All cases are from Kohima Quarantine Centre", Nagaland Health Minister S Pangnyu Phom tweeted.
It needs mention here that Nagaland, which was coronavirus-free two weeks ago, last week became the fourth north-eastern State after Assam, Tripura, and Manipur with total positive cases in three digits. With the return of around four lakh natives from the south and north India, coronavirus cases in eight north-eastern States have spiked upwards at a dramatic rate.
Meanwhile, India's Covid-19 tally rose further on Monday to cross 3.3 lakh and the number of deaths surpassed 9,500 even as the central and state governments stepped up their focus on ramping up testing capabilities and availability of beds for treating those infected with the dreaded virus infection.
At the same time, 180,000 people were cured of the infection, pushing the country's recovery rate to over 52%, according to data released by the Union health ministry. For 3 consecutive days, the recovery rate has remained higher across the nation.
The same was asserted today by Prime Minister Narendra Modi who announced that the recovery rate of 50% has been breached by the country.
