BENGALURU: Zomato delivery agent, Kamraj who was accused of assaulting an Instagram influencer Hitesha Chandranee, has filed a complaint against her with the Electronic City police in Bengaluru on Monday, alleging abuse and assault over the delay in delivery of food.

The incident took place on March 11, when Chandranee in an Instagram video claimed that she had ordered food, which was delivered late and as such she wanted to cancel the order. She alleged that while she was talking to the customer care executive, the delivery agent, Kamraj hit her on the nose and left her bleeding.

The video has gone viral after Chandranee alleged that she was being punched by the delivery boy. Following the incident, she filed a complaint and the police have registered a case under IPC 325 (Punishment for voluntarily causing grievous hurt) and 504 against Kamaraj.

Taking cognizance of the matter Zomato in a statement said, "We deeply regret this incident and apologise to Hitesha for this traumatic experience." The online food delivery company added, "We are in touch with her and are providing our complete support through the necessary medical care and investigation. Meanwhile, we have delisted the delivery partner from our platform."

On the other hand, Kamraj who has been working with the company for two years and has made 5000 deliveries as cited by the company, said that the allegations against him were false and that he did not hit Chandranee. He further stated that it was her who initially abused him and on the verge of trying to defend himself from her, she accidentally hit herself.

The company further asserted that it is providing all possible support to both Chandranee and Kamraj to ensure that "both sides of the story come to light".

Later Kamraj filed an FIR against her where he alleged that he was late to deliver the food due to traffic and poor road conditions. He further stated that despite apologizing she abused him and hurt herself while doing so.

Meanwhile, after Kamraj's side of the story came to light people extended support towards him on social media and demanded an unbiased inquiry into the matter.
