To meet travel demands, the Northeast Frontier Railways will operate four extra special trains in June and July of this year. 

The weekly express service between Dibrugarh and Chandigarh will begin on July 7. Every Monday, the train will depart Dibrugarh at 8:05 a.m. and arrive in Chandigarh at 1:20 p.m. The weekly express special between Chandigarh and Dibrugarh will begin service in July. Every Wednesday at 11.20 p.m., the train will depart from Chandigarh and arrive in Dibrugarh at 7:55 a.m. on Saturday. 

The weekly express special Silghat Town – Tambaram will begin operating on June 25. Every Friday at 10:05 a.m., the train will depart Silghat Town and arrive in Tambaram at 9:25 p.m. on Sunday. The Tambaram – Silghat Town weekly express special service will begin on June 28. Every Monday at 6:55 p.m., the train will depart Tambaram and arrive in Silghat Town at 4 a.m. on Thursday. 

The superfast special Silchar – Coimbatore will begin service on June 26. Every Tuesday at 8:10 a.m., the train will depart Silchar and arrive in Coimbatore at 12 a.m. on Friday. The Coimbatore-Silchar superfast special will begin service on June 27. Every Sunday at 9:45 p.m., the train will depart from Coimbatore and arrive in Silchar at 4:50 p.m. on Wednesday. 

From June 19 to July 10, the Trivandrum-Guwahati superfast summer special will make four journeys. Every Saturday at 6 p.m., the train will depart Trivandrum and arrive in Guwahati at 9 a.m. on Tuesday. The Guwahati-Trivandrum superfast summer special will run four times between June 23 and July 14. Every Wednesday at 6:45 a.m., the train will depart from Guwahati and arrive in Trivandrum at 11:10 p.m. on Friday.

A few days back, the Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) Railway Protection Force (RPF) rescued nine underage boys and girls from various stations and trains in Assam. A squad from the RPF/Alipurduar Crime Prevention and Detection Squad (CPDS) and RPF employees from Gossaigaon Hat rescued a young girl at the Gossaigaon Hat Railway Station. The kid allegedly ran away from her home in Gossaigaon's Failaguri village. She was later returned to her father.
